Loved that note in today's Things I Think I Think.  And the note on group-reading How to Win Friends and Influence People.

MT is not a cult, it is a "tribe" .... ;-)

You've promted me to look up definitions of 'cult'.  Excluding the religious definitions as The MT are only demigods :-)

I love this one from Google - so definitive

Cult : a person or thing that is popular or fashionable among a particular group or section of society. e.g. "the series has become a bit of a cult in the UK"
By this definition, MT is definitely a cult.  So are dentistry, trampolining and hot dog eating.

cultdefinition.com defines 'cult' as
5 a : great devotion to a person, idea, object, movement, or work (as a film or book); especially : such devotion regarded as a literary or intellectual fad
Maybe we are a cult.  At least this week.  :-)

Kind regards
Kevin

They are good definitions, indeed, except that I do not like the temporary nature of cultishness that is implied by "fashionable" and "fad".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribe_(internet) says: The term tribe or digital tribe[1] is used as a slang term for an unofficial community of people who share a common interest, and usually who are loosely affiliated with each other through social media or other internet mechanisms. The term is related to "tribe," which traditionally refers to people closely associated in both geography andgenealogy.

MT is a great community of like minded people. It reminds me of the story of Roseta, Pennsylvania, where the community spirit lengthen the lives of everyone who lived in the town. Healthy managerial support equals healthy managers, employees, and workplace. Mike, Mark, and MT can be viewed as a Sigma 5 event. Everything came together to create a very unique set of circumstances with created MT. It has made the day to day difference for thousands of people. These tools build our strength of our character as we toil at our work.
Being gifted is sometimes just having the right tools and working hard to implement them. I think eventually the human race will mature as managers. Those who follow MT discipline are the forerunners.
Making tomorrow better, then the next better than that, makes us all winners.
