Manager Tools / Career Tools and Agile Project Management Practices
Hi, I would be keen to have some guidance around Management / Career Tools Philosophy and Agile Project management Philosophy.
I posted a couple of questions a month or so back regarding being new to the PM field, currently studying for my PMI-ACP exams ( ACP = Agile Certified Professional or something like that .. ) ..
My initial question was around 1 on 1’s and if users continue to use 1 on 1’s within their agile teams, or if daily stand ups, retrospectives, etc.
The answer from the users of Manager-Tools was basically – do one on ones as well as the other agile meetings as they are all important and worth doing well.
On that note, I’d be really keen to hear from the Manager / Career tools users, and or a Podcast from Mark and Mike on how best to marry the Agile Philosophy to the teachings from this site.
Does anyone have any real world examples they are keen to share?
Mike and Mark .. do you plan on ( or have you already released any ) podcasts relating to Agile Project Management / Team relationships etc.
Many Thanks – k1w1 on oe (Kiwi on Overseas Experience)

agile and MT - yes!
Hi Kiwi
I have lots of good experience practicing MT and also being agile. Does work together just fine. O3s for example are always a good idea. People on a self organizing team still have managers.and those managers still get to mentor and help that team member. Ron Lichty's book Managing the unmanageable talks about this. You can also reference Joel's blog here http://thegorillaisnamedhogarth.blogspot.com/ as he is both and agilest and an MT fan also...
I suggest that you check with the PMI Agile Community of Practice and with meetup.com for some local agile meetups and gatherings. That is a great way to learn more of the agile piece experientially,
And this post has some of my examples http://agiledreamer.wordpress.com/2012/06/01/be-a-collaborative-leader-part-1/

Thanks Margaret for your feedback.
I've had a look at both blogs you mention, and have added them to my RSS feeds!
Glad to hear that MT and Agile work well together.
I'll keep you posted on my PMI-ACP success ( hopefully Jan / Feb 2014 ! )
Thanks again
