Dear MT friends,

are there any posts/thread on managers as rainmakers?  I've not seen any pod casts on the issue.  I've read several books and taken a few classes on rainmaking and I'm pulling my hair out because they are, in general, utterly useless.  One class suggests goals as far a specific and measurable, time-based, etc... and then doesn't deal with the backward planning on how to achieve that goal.  In other words, I set a goal of $500,000 fees from new clients by 12/31/2010 and completely ignores how to get there.  ugh.

Can anyone point me in a helpful direction?  Thanks as always.

The books by David Maister ("Managing the Professional Service Firm" is a favorite of mine) are an excellent resource for this topic.
