I have a direct who is applying for an MBA program. He asked me to fill out a recommendation form. Mostly it's in survey format, but there is room for a paragraph on "observations about the applicant's potential to undertake or benefit from graduate study." I didn't go to graduate school myself... how am I supposed to know how he'll do there? Can anyone offer insight on what kind of observations they might be looking for?

My manager wrote generally about my managerial skills, knowledge, experience and my approach towards managing team problems and issues as well as ability and commitment/dedication to handle the additional workload.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Sounds like they want to know if you think if he has capacity to learn.
