I recently took a more senior management roll, since I took the job i noticed every one but me gives wine with there gifts. Example, I had a child i got wine, i got a new house i got wine, one of my co-workers got married they got wine.
I was going to extend the same courtesy.

I've never heard of such a thing.
Wines are typically chosen to go with the food being consumed.
Champagne is the wine for celebrations.
