G and Gs (Guys and Girls)
I am going to abuse this forum for my own selfish purpose and I hope you will forgive me and see the higher aim.
I am currently working on my MBA at a European University. This is a full time project... meaning I work full time as a manager and study late at night... my team is seriously concerned, because every morning I look as if it was a party last night... well, I wish it had been.
I would like to ask the collective manager tools forum for feedback on feedback
Presently, I am working on a term paper on employee performance management with the subject of manager feedback and the influence of it (or the lack thereof) on performance.
To add some statistical value, I created a questionnaire that has been filled in by almost 80 people. My goal is 100, though (or more)
This questionnaire deals with feedback from your manager or supervisor.
I guarantee with my word that it is 100 percent anonymous and that I can not track the answers back to an individual person.
This means you can be very open. In fact, this is the only incentive I can offer you. The last question deals with the one thing you always wanted to tell your manager without having to worry about the consequences and have it published at a leading European University as part of this study. Cool, isn’t it :-)
The questionnaire takes only 10 minutes to fill in. Some even said it helped to reconsider the relationship they have with their bosses. I consider this a bit exaggerated, but hey, it takes all sorts :-) and it is motivating.
Thank you so much for your help. If you want to take this beyond just helping... and if you feel comfortable with it, feel free to forward the link to your friends or co-workers.... A large sample size would be very powerful and your real life business experience would be greatly appreciated.
Finally, as a repay for my abuse of this forum... I will publish the paper here and offer you the one and only chance to rip it apart or to agree...
Interestingly it will be truly international... at this point I have people form the USA, Germany, Sweden, Austria, South Africa, and the UK...
Thanks you so much for your help. If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact me here or at ohaase@hotmail.de
M&M... if you feel this is too much promotion for my own purpose, please let me know, but again, you will get a free copy of the paper, for whatever it is worth ;.)
This is the link. Let me know if it does not work.

Research on Feedback
I took your survey. I hope you post the results. Good luck with your paper.
Research on Feedback
I just took your survey. Nicely designed. I'd love to see the results.
Research on Feedback
Done.
Happy to help.

("...plan of retaliation") - wow! :o
Research on Feedback
One small complaint--my boss is not a "he" and the survey is all male pronouns.
Otherwise, I'll be interested in the outcome.

bug_girl...
arrgh... I thought I was consistent with using s/he als a bi-gender pronoun :-) I must have missed one or two questions.
So here a disclaimer...the use of gender specific pronouns is not to exclude, include or favour members of a certain sex or descriminate against members of a certain sex, nor to indicated any preference thereof.
:-)
But I get your point. Mark and Michael often use female managers in their casts... She did this, she did that and so on. In fact, they use more female managers than male managers. I this clearly discriminates the male sex in management.... (I am joking, of course)
I will post the results here.
Regards form Germany.
Olaf
THANKS
A big thanks to everyone. Thanks for your support...Let's see if my data supports what Mark and Michael say about managers giving feedback.
Another interesing point is that I now have a good number of people from the USA in the survy. It will be interesting to see if there is a difference in feedback behaviour between the USA and Europe.
Kind regards from Germany
Olaf
