I was going through some articles on salary survey and trends in India and couple of articles caught my attention. The type of employee benefit/ allowances given across Industry in India. http://bw.businessworld.in/PDF_upload/74.pdf Why attracting talent is an issue is a challenge despite presence of so many professionals. http://www.businessworld.in/content/view/3465/3563 It would be great to see response 1) what is the status in other parts of the world? 2)Are employees pampered too much or is this the way to go to retain talent? Yes, I do enjoy many of the benefits listed here and that helps a lot. Thanks and Regards Karthik.

Hi,

I work in China and I can say that high profile companies are using whatever method they can to retain employee. Plus government regulations require some very interesting benefits here as well, such housing allowance so that employees cans save money to buy a home.

On the other side Chinese employees that are well educated thing they are entitled to large salary increases, bonuses and training, or they will move on to greener pastures. The competition for talent, even though the Chinese still have a long way to go to being very effective is brutal.

Hope this helps and send me a pm if you have some specific questions.
Cheers
