As I near retirement (sometime in the next 10 years) I run this test to help know when is the right time:
Every Sunday night, I ask myself whether I am looking forward to getting to work on Monday. As long as the answer keeps coming up YES!, I know I'm good to go for another week.
That's a great test!
I'm fortunate that I still look forward to going to work every day. My wife even thinks I'm a little "off" because she tells me she has to go to work, and I tell her I get to go to work!
