Should I give up with this team or start try reinvent?

Hi,

I need to implement a new commission scheme for our sales team. We do mostly email marketing but I have taken over recently and the CEO who oversaw this dept at had a commission scheme in place that is set up on a monthly basis but only 1 person has hit it consistently. The remainder of the team I inherited average 60% of target are extremely demotivated.

What types of new scheme could I implement so get them motivated? I  was thinking of reducing target and a lower % commission paid out or even a tiered scheme. I don't want to have to fire anyone first without first having had them work under me as I feel i have a differnet mgmt style to the CEO.

Thanks

The fact that you have one high performer is great news.
I would use a method out of the training world, which is using a high performer to guide you on what works and what doesn't.
Take your time and together with this high performer analyse exactly what he/she does to get these results.
Document this in clearly described actionable terms, not in vague terms. Then use this knowledge to develop the other members.

I am Disc 3554..
I have talked to the star performer to see what they are doing and like Robert said got them to document it .

Great, you took action immediately. I would suggest that YOU also observe what the High Performer does (differently).
