Hi,

I am being promoted-I believe in large part due to what I have learned from MT. Thank you!!

In preparation, I have two questions, which I suspect will be the first of many.

This department has 5 directs year round but will also have another 3-4 that are hired on a contract basis for 4-5 months in the summer.

1. How do I roll out the trinity with these temporary new hires in short time frame? O3's are going to be crucial because I noticed they were not committed towards the end of their contract and on occasion did not show up and/or called in sick more frequently. I plan to change this.

2. How and where do I conduct O3's when we do not have offices or cubicles and my directs do not have email access?

We have a small fast food outlet on the premises. Would this be an appropriate place to conduct O3's even though it lacks privacy?

Thank you,

eliza

eliza,
IMO stick with the schedule outlined in the Rolling Out the Trinity casts.  In 3-4 months you'll establish O3's and get into the Feedback.  Make sure you give affirmative feedback for behaviors you want to see more of, like coming to work every day.

I would start the O3s soon (2 - 4 weeks).  You will have to introduce them in a meeting since there is no e-mail.  Include the temps in everything you do, they are part of the team.
Any place where you can sit down in a relaxed atmosphere will work for the O3.  You do not need closed doors or privacy.  It is a conversation, not a formal review.  If there is something confidential that comes up, you can make an extra effort to find an out of the way place to talk.  That should be the exception.
Congratulations on your new responsibility, and good luck!
