Hi All,
I'm looking for recommendations for training in negotiation skills and techniques for myself and my colleagues.
Context: We are specialist individual contributors in IT Service Management looking to roll out ITSM processes across a new, merged IT organization. We have no role power and are racing to create relationships with the 'other half' of our new merged org. We need to persuade peers and their leadership to converge on adopting uniform processes. We have stated support from the CIO but the middle layer of management is somewhat uninterested.
Needed: recommendations based on first- or second-hand experience of training courses that help us understand how to negotiate change sideways, diagonally-up and straight up in a large technical organization. (Boston or north-east preferred so we can spend more money on training and less on travel).
I'm doing desk research right now and have identified some good offerings from Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School. If anyone has experience of those, or great stories to tell about other organizations, I would be very grateful to hear from you.
thanks in advance
Simon

Another option for negotiation skills training
I saw your post and wanted to let you know about a negotiation training through a company called Karrass. I took their two day effective negotiation skills workshop and it was a very good experience. What I liked best about it was that they mixed teaching and practicing- so we completed several negotiations with other class members, with predefined scenarios. This was a very good way to practice skllls and get feedback in real time. They offer training all over the world.
One of their newest offerings is about how to negotiate effectively in your own organization- that might be a good fit for you to take a look at.
You can get more information at http://www.Karrass.com
I hope this helps, and good luck-
Catie
Thanks, Catie
When did you take the course? Was it in the North East at all?
