Hi,
I am scheduled to have a phone interview with a large multinational coming up. The interview will be with a recruiter. I have done the preparation for for the big questions etc already.
A few questions came up during listening to the phone interview podcast:
- how to close n a phone interview. What should I ask for? Asking for an offer feels wrong, since I have not yet spoken to the hiring manager. Should I ask for an interview, or an offer nevertheless?
- how should I handle follow up thank you? Would a handwritten note be over the top after a phone interview?
Thanks, jobs.

My understanding (and what
My understanding (and what I've practiced) is you should simply close by saying you're very interested in an offer because blah blah blah. You're not demanding a job, just stating that you'd really like to get an offer from them (incidentally, I dunno about you, but that's been a great shift in thought for me, to think of it as a hunt for offers and not a hunt for jobs :)

Don't ask for an offer
Closing isn't asking for an offer... it's expressing your interest in an offer. It could start off like, "Our discussion today has brought me to the point where I already want an offer from Acme Corp. Based on the job posting and more importantly your explanation of the role, yada, yada, people, yada, yada leadership, I think I'll be a good fit."
Receiving handwritten notes always feels good.
Good luck,
