Lessons of the Bystander Effect for management

In the latest TITIT, Mark reported experiencing the Bystander Effect for himself, in which people were potentially letting another human die rather than helping.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bystander_effect also includes several examples.

My management lesson: "Somebody call 911" doesn't generate results. "Tom, call 911" does. It's one of the lessons I synthesized on my own before becoming a MT devotee a few years ago.

Mark,
Thank you for acting. I really have to wonder how we have survived this long as a species.
