Mike, How do we share files or documents which are of interest to other members from our personal collection for sharing with them. (For which no link exist for download) I did a quick check and didn't find any answers. Thanks and Regards Karthik.

Karthik,

I'm sorry, but we currently don't have the functionality to share files. The reason is fairly simple ... primarily, we don't have a good process for ensuring uploaded files are free of viruses and other malware. And if the files are hosted on our site, we feel we would have a responsibility to ensure the safety of the users of that material.

Perhaps we'll invest in a process in the future, but for now we don't feel comfortable with our ability to support.

Thanks for thinking of sharing ... THAT we very much appreciate!

thanks,
Mike

Hi Karthik,

It's great to share resources, though as Mike points out, storing them on MT is not an option for now.

One thing you can do is post a description of the file on the forums, then ask individuals who are interested to send you a PM (private message) with their email address if they want you to email the file. I have done this a few times with various MT members and it works well.

A free-for-all anyone-can-upload area might get a little chaotic. The idea I was posting was that someone with a document setup their own area, and make one of their folders publicly shared, and upload their doc(s).

If you have a doc that you want to share, it'll only take you five minutes to setup and configure your own Skydrive (for example) space. Designate a folder public, and it'll give you a link you can share here.

I have firewall problem with accessing SKYDRIVE.

Would a common new GMAIL ID with password circulated to members so that we can send email to that ID with file attached and others can download by using the username and password work?. 5Gb is a sizable space to store information.

We practice that in this part of the world for safety, HR documents sharing.

Any thoughts!! suggestions.
Regards
Karthik.

Without getting M&M involved right now, I think the cleanest thing we can do is simply post that we have the info available. If someone really really wants it, whomever has said info can email it over.

There's that, and there's also "timing" - in that, OK, you can't access skydrive or something similar from work; is there an issue with doing it from home in the evening/weekend, or from an internet cafe, etc?
